HNC FURNITURE

This course gives the learner a chance to develop initial skills and to learn the design process and construction methods used in timber manufacture. Learners are taken through the design process, introducing, historical research and developmental drawing techniques. This process is documented in sketch book form and the designed piece is realised through a finalised workshop project. Wood machining, power tools, veneering, modern upholstery are all part of the course.

Lighting Project.

HNC responded perfectly to the brief this year and produced some wonderful lighting effects. Learners were asked to design a bespoke lighting display, which reflects the environment in which it will live. They worked predominantly in wood or sheet material, but other materials could be incorporated and considered. This, lighting effect, could be a table top, wall- mounted or a floor standing lighting display. The final design could incorporate, spot, task, directional or kinaesthetic lighting.
